What's Household Storage?

Many people wonder why would anyone put their household goods in storage? Lots of families in NCR do that, actually. Some put the contents of their entire house into storage for as long as 12-18 months. The reasons are many. Professionals working with software companies get relocated to another city on work assignment and don't want to leave their furniture and other goods in an unoccupied flat. Others might be re-building their homes into builder flats—a process that can take as long as 18-24 months. Still others might be painting their homes, or re-doing an apartment.

Whatever be the reason for their need, when people want to store their furniture and other goods, they come to StoreMore. No wasting time looking for suitable space. No headache of dealing with multiple vendors for packing, transporting and storing. They don't even have to worry about the safety and security of the goods.

Typical Uses for Storage

Relocation
People who are going abroad or moving to other cities find it easier to put the contents of their house in storage with StoreMore. It saves them effort twice over, first in trying to sell it and then in buying it all over again. When they come back, they get their entire stuff delivered to their doorstep with just a click.

The concept of storage is catching on in India because of a variety of reasons. Our workforce is more mobile than ever before. We are buying more stuff than our parents ever did. And we are living in flats instead of big houses like our ancestors did. There are many situation in which storage comes in handy—and relieves a major headache from a person's life. Here are some of the most common:

Re-Building
It's quite common these days to find a house being re-built into flats. The owners typically rent out another flat for the duration of the construction. Often, they cannot fit all the goods in the alternate accommodation provided to them. Storage is an easy solution to this problem—it allows people to put away all the not-in-use items in storage and keep just the necessary ones. Of course, only till such time as the new home is ready for its family.
Renovating
Professionals, such as CAs, lawyers and architects, work from offices with limited space. Storage is a good solution for them—extending the space available for storing files, documents, brochures, flyers, etc. The swift retrieval process makes it easy to get whatever they need whenever they need it. This way, they can secure the not-in-use items and optimize the space available to them – thus, getting a hassle-free and healthy work environment.
SOHO Storage
With rising income levels, it's quite common to find a family re-doing its existing home to suit its changing tastes and aspirations. In such a situation, it's easier to put the non-essential stuff in storage and use some parts of the house while the others are getting renovated. The space available to them gets optimized—and life becomes more comfortable during the duration of the renovation.

Temporary Accomodation
When families move to a new city, they often have to live in a service apartment or other temporary accommodation for the first few months. Often, they hurry the process of finding a new home because they are worried about their stuff. They prefer to leave their household in storage with StoreMore till such time as they find ample space for their belongings. Their moving company takes the stuff from StoreMore facility and sends it to the new city.
Waiting for a buyer
Very often, we buy things, such as a guitar or piano, in the hope of acquiring the skill. But we get busy with other demands on our time, and those things keep lying around at home. We decide to sell them, but have to wait for the right buyer. StoreMore can be used to keep that item safe and secure till such time it is sold.
First-time parenthood
After the birth of the first baby, a household becomes swamped with gifts and things that the baby needs—cribs, strollers, dining chairs, and so on. However, a baby outgrows these things periodically, but they are too expensive to be thrown away. Who knows, there might be a second baby in a few years. With StoreMore, you can store your child's stuff safely for the next one – and find it in a usable condition when you need it.
College Holidays
Everyone looks forward to their summer break, but it would be even sweeter if the students weren't asked to vacate their dormitories and hostel rooms. The obligation of asking a college mate to keep the belongings aside, it is quite troublesome to pack everything, transport it and then get it back. Storage can take the headache out of this entire process, allowing students to keep their things safely for those months.
Unpredictable Events
Sometimes, life throws something unexpected at us—like a flooded basement or a fire in the office building. In such situations, people can put away the goods into storage and buy some time to deal with the problem.

Preparing your goods for storage

We highly recommend that all furniture and appliances should be packed properly to prevent damages during transit and handling. Nothing ever breaks when it is lying stationary. The highest risk is during handling and transit from your home to storage. Therefore, it's best to safeguard against that with proper packing as per global norms. Typically, wooden furniture should be packed in corrugated sheet and shrink wrap, while fragile items should be packed in bubble sheet, corrugated paper and shrink wrap. All items should be packed in a manner that nothing moves inside a box during transit.

If you don't have the patience to do this, then get a packing & moving company to do this job for you. It might cost a little more than buying the material and doing it yourself, but it will be worth the safety of your goods during transit. Once they reach a storage facility, your goods will remain where they are put and will not be moved around. This will ensure that no damaged occur to them while in storage. Further, the regular intervention of pest control services will ensure that no rodents eat up that expensive tapestry, or make holes in your sofa.

We suggest that you click a picture of every furniture item and record the brand of every appliance before it is packed. This will make it easier for you to remember exactly which item you want to gift to a family member, or, which appliance can be sent to your friend who moves to Delhi while you are away.
